PRAYING, DOES IT WORK.........

Does praying really work? Can you kneel down, put your hands together, close your eyes, and pray to God for whatever you are praying for to make a difference? And if you do, does it really help or make that difference? Well I know you can knell down, put your hands together, close your eyes, and pray to God, but I don't believe it does anything.

Now let me say right off the bat that I do believe in God, and I do have my own believes. But as far as praying goes, its not for me. Praying is more like a state of mind thing, to make you feel better. It is said that you talk to God through your prayers. Well I can talk with out using prayer. And praying for someone to get better from being sick or whatever the case maybe does not work in my option. If its your time to go, its your time to go. Praying is more for a state of mind. To make you feel better. People do the same thing when they meditate, to relax there body and mind. And if that is what you need to do to make you feel better then do what you have to do. But as far as how I feel, it does not help. Sorry if I offend anyone, but just like you have the right to believe in what you want to, well so do I.

I use to pray all the time. And after I stopped praying, nothing changed. My life goes on the same. Now I have heard that paying for some people makes thing easier or there life feel more complete. And like I said before, its a state of mind. And my state of mind is not in the need for comfort in that way. This is just how I feel. And I am sure I am not the only one out there that feels this way.

  1. i used to believe the same exact way. what changed my belief i honestly cant tell you it was something i felt an believed is real. now i honestly can say that there is no way to infently prove that praying works ie if a sick patient that is given 5 day to live some how is cured. pepole of faith would say that God healed that person and listened to there prayers while a doctor or a scitents would say they got lucky or call it a medical mirical. however i do agree that prayer is not the only way to talk to God. worship is another form of communication. an honestly u can worship God just by how you live your life daily by diying to yourself daily. but i belive prayer is not simply just hitting your knees and saying amen at the end of your sentence. prayer can be many thing even if silent. im sure you just like all of us have thought to our selfs one time or another "God just help me out" or "God why" both of these are prayers. futhermore one can say that worry is prayer. its the prayer for the worst to happen. now you are correct that many pepole use prayer to ease there mind by either elevating guilt for there sins or the felling that there problems are not only in there hands. which i belive alot that happens in our life is out of hands however im strong beliver that God gives us free will. in the end though prayer is simply talking to God or at leaste thats the way i see it. its not a wish list and i belive that some of Gods greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. somtimes i belive God wants us to do and acomplish some of the things we pray for. its like the story of the man in the flood. the firemen came to evacuate the town before the flood and he said no my God will save me he will answer my prayers then a boat came by to rescue him off his roof and he declined saying my God will save me and answer my prayers and the finally a hellecopter came to pluck him out of the water but he would not go for the same reason. when he drowened and whent to heaven he asked God why didnt u answer my prayers. God said did i not send the fire fighters the boat and the helecopter. see somtimes we dont see the answer to the prayers because we are looking for somthing so grand or a cure all to what is causing us distress or problems. its honestly about perspective. if u dont believe pray works then u will never see it work. the eyes can only see what the mind is ready and willing to comprehend. now im not saying its bad one way or the other. i personally believe it works but it is not simple. just as faith without works is dead prayer without faith is dead. i personally hope you find the belief in prayer. an i know i will pray that you do pardon the irony. but God may just want you to take a leap of faith in prayer. I know for certiant one thing though, God works in all of our lives.
    sincerely hefe
